No one solution. I liked the idea of better pay along with better standards for teachers and administrators. What about money spent on activities? Thought?....
1. Acknowledge that the system is not as bad as people think. 2. Implement tracking throughout high school levels. 3. Re-evaluate what subjects/content/curriculum should be taught at all levels (computers, technical, career-oriented courses) 4. Increase the direct contact days with students 5. Higher accountability for training programs for teacher training 6. Re-evaluate the money spent on extra-curricular activities/programs 7. Raise teacher pay across the board 8. Raise accountability for classroom instruction. Expect more of them as a professional on a day-to-day basis. 9. Minimize the requirements of a building principal to the point their primary job is serving as an instructional leader. 10. Change attendance rules to eliminate students who have little desire to be in school on a day-to-day basis.
