This is a concern for all teachers. Observation are infrequent. Is the effectiveness of a teacher measurable via three observations/formal evaluations a year? Obviously there is more involved than that. I'm sure its part of the reason why teachers are so hard to fire...
No, there are so many other factors. Some don't care about the test, some don't want to do well, some don't have a bed to sleep in the night before, food to eat/breakfast, and the list goes on and on.
How do we analyze students? Chapter test? Semester finals? How do you analyze who the good teachers are and the bad teachers are. We all have opinions of this and it is not based on test scores or being in a teachers room to observe.

ReplyDeleteI wrestle with this same question of whether my assessments are accurate in terms of student learning. This is with my 60-80 assessments a semester.
ReplyDeleteIs this where our teacher portfolio works in, Dirk?
