Do teacher licensure standards inhibit change in the education industry?

  1. Are the standards valuable or are they just hoops to jump through?

    1. I'm jaded on that question given how hard it is to obtain a social studies all license in Iowa.

  2. Should it be easier or harder to obtain teaching licensure?

    1. Is has to at least stay the same if not be made more difficult. There are already too many bad teachers and lowering the bar would not improve that

  3. Seemingly the book made the point that while the education industry wants change, but that change needs to come from the establishment--not externally. Can quality change come strictly come from within?

  4. It seems to be getting more difficult in some institutions, yet easier in there are more places to get the initial licensure. It is easier to receive all degrees with the addition of all of the online colleges/universities. It has become more about getting a persons money it seems and making them jump through the hoops to receive a given degree.
