Tracking

This is the second time in the book that it has mentioned the idea of tracking students by IQ or ability. We discussed this a little last time so probably no new insight, just found it interesting.

  1. It's interesting to note that the book discusses IQ testing as the debunked science that we know it as today. This is whiggish history. Back then IQ testing was a prominent method of assessing students for tracking and placement.

  2. Still love the tracking idea, but more of allowing kids to take different paths, not forcing kids based on a test.

  3. Tracking is an interesting concept. There is validity to tracking in terms of helping people get into a better position to succeed.
