To some extent we have to be. We are with the students for half of the day they are awake. With the number of broken homes we have today, a teacher becomes another parent for students. We should not be responsible, but we do play a large role in their lives and need to help in this aspect.
Initially schools in the 19th century were created in part to impart morals and ethics.

ReplyDeletePauk: teachers play some role in moral development today. While parents should be the primary agent the schools also play an important role.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it seems like parents want it both ways in terms of wanting moral development but disliking the morals/ethics proposed.
