In the book why do you think teachers were blamed for juvenile delinquency?

  1. It's an issue of accountability...or perceived responsibility. If its a "passing the buck" issue the blame often falls on the schools. If schools were better, if classes were more interesting, and if teachers were more compelling then student's would never skip, right?

  2. Doc is right. Blame always falls on schools because parents rarely blame themselves for their child's behavior. It's gotten worse over the years as the family dynamic has broke down and parents (men especially) have neglected their parental duties

  3. I think schools are expected to correct children's behavior. I think parents expect schools to do this and many times than do not support schools efforts.

  4. I agree, it seems schools and teachers are blamed too often. When many times they can't control many of the factors that cause a juvenile to be delinquent.
